DSP Lab Course Experience

In the DSP labs, we mainly focused on designing various filters. In the initial labs, we were asked to finalize on a paper that we were supposed to implement. After having the paper checked, we had to review a few papers and patents related to the finalized paper. Soon after, we focused on designing filters. Initially, we worked on IIR filters using two approaches, the first being the IIM method and the second BLT method. Next up we started designing linear phase FIR filters using two approaches again, Window method and Frequency Sampling Method. The next experiment focused on multi-rate signal processing. So in these experiments, we understood the working of up-sampler and down-sampler by observing the graphs that we attained. Finally, the last filter we worked with was the Weiner filter. With this, we completed all the experiments. After each experiment was performed, we made the appropriate documents necessary and got them assessed. The necessary changes were made on the documents as suggested by our faculty. Each of these experiments was then uploaded on moodle. Finally, the last experiment was the DSP application. Here we had to execute the paper we had chosen at the beginning. We had to make slight modifications to the method adopted in the paper and had to write a report about the same.

Each of the labs were in sync to what we were learning in our theory classes. Hence, the learning process was further advanced. The labs were very well designed. Good amount of thought was certainly given whilst making the course.
Each lab had challenges of its own but overall the lab was wholesome and quite useful!
